Greg Lucas (b. 1976) is a contemporary painter based in North Carolina whose work encompasses portraits, still lifes, and geometric compositions. Working in oil and watercolor, he explores light, texture, and the expressive possibilities of familiar objects. His paintings bring careful observation to unexpected arrangements, inviting viewers to consider the symbolic presence of everyday things.
Lucas began his formal art education in commercial art and graphic design. In the early 2000s, he attended the Savannah College of Art and Design through a scholarship-supported painting program. His training also includes studies with David A. Leffel, Gregg Kreutz, and Timothy C. Tyler, as well as study at the Fine Arts League in Asheville, North Carolina.
His practice includes original paintings and commissioned portraits. His ongoing portfolio, 2026–Forward, continues his exploration of traditional painting methods and contemporary imagery.
